Outreach

Our Outreach Services are a co-operation of our Chaplaincy, Housing, Employment/Education departments. All three work with youth in the community as well as the youth at the shelter. They support youth to help them maintain their housing and employment. Our chaplain also does crisis intervention with youth in Georgina.  Our facility also hosts A.A. meetings and other agencies to help meet needs in our community.

We recognize the tremendous need for supports specific to the homeless youth population. We partner with nonprofits to assist youth who are homeless and at-risk of homeless with housing and additional essential services.

We value the diverse views of the community and engage in open, honest communication with our partners. These communications are collaborative and creative, resulting in services and initiatives that address the changing and emerging needs of the community. Our community contacts provide opportunities to share, learn, grow, recognize one another and celebrate our joint successes. We look forward to hearing from you so we can better serve York Region youth!

Housing and Community Support

Housing and Community Supports Services offer life skill programs to homeless youth current, past and youth who are at risk of homelessness.  Support is continued to assist with staying housed through housing options, transportation assistance, liaison between landlord and youth, weekly visits to food bank and an advocate for the many issues youth are facing today.  If you are in need of help to find a place to live, or to stay housed, you may call our Housing and Community Support Services worker.

Employment and Education Support

Employment and Education Supports Services offer assistance with creation of resumes, interview coaching, one on one job search and support and supports for entrepreneurial activities.  Education services include registration for school and ALEP programs, GED registration and help, and Literacy training.  We also make referrals to other agencies in York Region who can also help you.

Residential Services

Our Residential Services include 16 Emergency beds and 10 Transitional beds for homeless youth 16-26 years of age.  Through teamwork with youth, staff and community partners a holistic approach integrates health, nutrition, literacy and education, parenting education, family support, addictions and mental health service for youth and their families seeking our services.  Opportunities occur on a daily basis to learn new life skills as we provide a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere.
